Memory with WandShort and Long-Stringed Flow Wand

The Flow Wand/Levitation Stick has its origins in the old magician’s trick of a dancing cane. Adapted by Prisna of Flowtoys, it has developed into a new addictive prop that is perfect for expressing dance and flow. With practice, the wand appears to be dancing in space on its own, with you, or against you. In this workshop we will explore both short-stringed and long-stringed flow wands. We will begin with understanding the basic mechanics of the short-stringed wand including balance and momentum. We will gain proficiency with movement, isolations, palm spins, and the off hand movements that improve the illusion. Next, we will explore long-stringed flow wand that expands expression to wraps, stalls, and passes around various parts of the body including neck, waist, arms, and legs. Memory’s long-stringed wand technique borrows from rope dart and involves keeping slack line on one or both hands. If interested, she can also discuss retractable lines. Appropriate for all levels.  Short and long-stringed wands will be available for the workshop and for sale throughout the weekend.
